Barcelona shredded all expectations, bursting through to the quarter-finals with a 6-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, after a first-leg 4-0 defeat.
Barcelona had to take lead with at least a five-goal difference, to make it through to the quarter finals. Having secured a 2-0 score in the first half, Barcelona pressed ahead netting one and letting through Edinson Kavani’s. Barça pushed on, scoring thrice, with the last goal hammered down in the closing seconds of the match.
Barcelona’s goals belonged to Luis Suarez, Neymar (2 goals), Messi and Sergio Roberto. PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa scored an own goal. Two of the six goals were penalty shoots by Messi and Neymar.
Barcelona’s offsetting the 0-4 defeat was one of the most memorable comebacks in the history of the Champions League.
It was the 10th time that Barcelona qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals.
