The British Parliament supported the proposal of the Prime Minister Theresa May to hold early general elections to the Parliament on 8 June. 522 deputies voted for the initiative, 13 - against. Initially, the voting had to take place in 2020.
May explained her initiative by the fact that in the current Parliament there is no unity on the issue of withdrawal from the European Union. Previous parliamentary elections were held in 2015.
