March 17, 2014 the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the 11th meeting of Uzbekistan-EU Cooperation Council in Brussels.
The EU was represented by a delegation headed by Evangelos Venizelos Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Greek Republic, presiding in the EU.
At the meeting the sides considered a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, and discussed the implementation of agreements reached in 2011 during the visit of President Islam Karimov to Brussels and summit talks.
The sides have confirmed the proximity or conformity of positions and assessments on virtually all discussed topics including the EU Strategy for Central Asia.
As it was noted, Uzbekistan and the EU are interested in further development of mutually beneficial partnership in the long term and are willing to develop cooperation in the political, diplomatic, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
The sides also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and other relevant international and regional issues, reports the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan.
