The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis held a "roundtable" dedicated to the discussion of the draft Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the sanitary-epidemiological welfare of the population."
The event, organized by the Committees of the lower house of Parliament was attended by the deputies, representatives of governmental and non-governmental organizations, academics and experts, journalists.
Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, chairman of the Committee on Ecology and Environment, B.Alihanov, chairman of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs, E.Umarov and others noted that conducted under the leadership of President Islam Karimov consistent reforms to ensure stable sanitary epidemiological situation and environmental safety contributed to the preservation of public health, the creation of favorable conditions for its dignified life.
Adopted on July 3, 1992, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On State Sanitary Inspection" is an important legal basis for improving delivered health care services, prevention of infectious and viral diseases, ensuring stable sanitary and epidemiological situation.
As a result of the system work that is done in this area, the material and technical base of sanitary-epidemiological service is improving. Despite the global social and health problems in the world, epidemiological stability in many infectious diseases is being provided in our country. Modern infrastructure of planned implementation of vaccination was created, thereby life-threatening infectious diseases of children such as measles, whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria, polio, and mumps are averted.
In this era of globalization, a task of organizing activities in this area in accordance with modern requirements is becoming increasingly urgent. The draft law "On the sanitary-epidemiological welfare of population", along with the improvement of the legal basis, the implementation of sanitary norms and rules during the preventive measures, the creation of a sustainable system of hygiene practices, government control of the sanitary and epidemiological safety, covers priorities associated with increased participation of institutions of civil society and the responsibility of citizens during the process.
During the meeting, reports devoted to the needs of improving legislation to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population, the nature and value of the new draft law were heard. Suggestions and recommendations to improve the draft law were expressed.
