President Shavkat Mirziyoev met with Deputy Chairperson of Russian Government Dmitry Kozak, who arrived in our country to participate in the next meeting of the joint intergovernmental сommission on economic cooperation. Welcoming the guest, the head of our state stressed the dynamic development and consistent consolidation of relations of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia in many areas, including in trade-economic sphere.
Today Russia is one of the key economic partners of Uzbekistan. Following 2016 results, the volume of bilateral trade exceeded 4.2 billion dollars.
A package of bilateral agreements have been signed, on the organization of supply of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russian end-users in the framework of the "green corridor".
Over 1 million tons of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as a wide range of other products will be supplied to the Russian market this year alone.
The investment cooperation is also expanding. Today, more than 960 enterprises with Russian capital hold their activities in Uzbekistan, while representative offices of 64 leading Russian companies are accredited.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further diversification of areas of mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors of the economy.
The sides noted the important role of the intergovernmental Commission in establishing long-term business contacts between companies of the two countries, as well as in the promotion of new joint programmes and projects.
Dmitry Kozak expressed sincere gratitude to the head of our state for the warm reception and confirmed the willingness of the Russian Federation to develop a full-scale trade and economic partnership with the Republic of Uzbekistan.
