The members of the delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development headed by its President Suma Chakrabarti held a number of meetings at ministries and departments of our country.
At the meeting with first Deputy President of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sadiq Safaev, the parties discussed the prospects of development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and EBRD.
EBRD representatives were informed about the Action strategy of five priority directions of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the years 2017-2021.
Suma Chakrabarti highlighted the crucial role of Uzbekistan in Central Asia, deep satisfaction with the beginning of a new stage in the development of bilateral cooperation.
EBRD President met with first Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan O.Ramatov. In conversation the parties noted the interest of Uzbekistan and EBRD in strengthening and comprehensive development of the relations.
S. Chakrabarti expressed EBRD's willingness to actively participate in ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, attracting investments in various sectors of the economy.
They discussed plan for joint implementation of projects in such fields as metallurgy, machinery, textile industry, production of construction materials, infrastructure, investment, industry, transport and transport communications.
In conversation at the Chamber of commerce and industry of Uzbekistan, the parties noted reliable protection of the private sector in our country, the consistent development of small business and private entrepreneurship.
The share of small business in GDP reached almost 57 percent, industry 45 percent.
EBRD delegation also held negotiations at the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on tourism development.
It was stressed that Uzbekistan has rich history, modern infrastructure and a great tourism potential. The guests highly appreciated the reforms implemented in our country for the development of tourism.
The members of the delegation expressed their willingness to cooperate in developing tourism in the country, developing transport communications, to assist small business and private entrepreneurship entities, as well as cooperate in the organization of various festivals and sporting events.
EBRD delegation also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, the National Centre of Uzbekistan on Human Rights.
