On March 17, the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis held its regular meeting.
MP's considered a wide range of issues. In particular, they discussed draft laws aimed at legal ensuring of consistent reforms, which have reached a qualitatively new level and are conducted in accordance with a single coherent document – an Action Strategy of five priority directions of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the years 2017-2021.
The issues included in the agenda of the meeting of the lower house of Parliament, had previously been comprehensively studied at the meetings of factions of political parties and Deputy group from Ecological movement of Uzbekistan, committees of the Legislative chamber with participation of representatives of ministries and departments, civil society institutions.
The meeting highlighted the high attention paid by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev to the protection of rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of citizens, guarantees of activities of business entities, which is achieved primarily through the rule of law, real independence of the judiciary and the rule of law in the courts. Specific measures are adopted to implement these ideas. In particular, in recent months, the President adopted a number of decrees, including "On measures for further reforming the judicial-legal system, strengthening guarantees of protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens" and "On measures to radically improve the structure and efficiency of the judicial system of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
During the constructive dialogue, the members of the lower house of the Parliament noted that the improvement of the current legislation within the framework of implementation of the measures outlined in the decree and the decrees of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan are aimed at strengthening the mechanisms of ensuring reliable protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens. Now these decisions are perceived by the people with great enthusiasm, as evidenced by the opinions of thousands of our compatriots.
The MP's said that the judicial system should operate flawlessly. This is what the amendments are about, including those to be introduced into the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Law “On courts” and a number of procedure codes that are designed to create an appropriate legal framework for the newly formed administrative and economic courts and to simplify the procedure of consideration of cases, the deletion of duplicate instance on the revision of the judgments.
The event was held in the form of a lively discussion that allowed to comprehensively review all drafts included in the agenda.
