A video-conference meeting passed on April 19 under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the meeting, participants discussed measures taken to strengthen personal responsibility of managers at all levels for optimizing the volume and structure of imports by deepening the localization of production and expanding industrial cooperation, as well as unconditional fulfillment of the forecast export parameters and full mobilization of reserves to further increase its volumes.
It was noted at the meeting that over 2.8 thousand projects were implemented for more than 5.5 billion dollars within the framework of the programs for localization of production of finished products; over 4.8 thousand new products were mastered. As a result, the volume of imports over the past five years decreased by $ 752 million, including in 2016 - by $ 286 million.
However, despite the measures taken to expand the production of localized import-substituting products, government agencies starting allow unjustified growth of imports and, as a result, inefficient use of foreign currency. President Mirziyoyev severely warned the leaders of a number of companies and economic associations that they will be subject to stringent measures of responsibility up to consideration of their compliance for the post for the growth of imports, especially of the products produced in our country.
Special attention at the meeting was paid to issues of increasing the volume and expansion of the range of exports of goods, works and services, involvement of unused reserves for additional exports taking into account current conjuncture in the world market.
It was noted that despite the growth in export volumes in the first quarter of 2017 by 9.1 percent compared to the same period in 2016, a number of enterprises of industries and territories of the country did not fully meet the forecast export parameters.
Khokims of the districts that failed to achieve established volumes of export of fruit and vegetable products in the first quarter of 2017 have been warned that if the forecast parameters are not fulfilled in the first half of the year, their further stay in the post will be considered.
Following the results of the discussed issues at the meeting, relevant decisions were made to implement measures to ensure optimization of the volume and structure of imports by deepening localization of production and expanding industrial cooperation, as well as to increase volumes and types of exports of goods, works and services.
