On January 11, the Committee on Information and Communication Technologies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis held a seminar on "Main macroeconomic indicators and parameters of the State Budget of Uzbekistan for 2017: Prospects of development of the information sphere".
The purpose of the event was to bring to the professional community, the general public information about the nature and significance of the measures implemented by the government to ensure the growth of the national economy at a steady pace; the importance of absolute execution of the forecast macroeconomic indicators and parameters of the national budget of Uzbekistan for 2017.
The seminar saw deputies, officials of the Cabinet of the Ministers, ministries of economy, finance, development of information technologies and communications, Press and Information Agency, specialists in economic and information technologies, business and civil society institutions.
The development of modern countries' economy is closely linked with the development of the information sphere. It is considered as one of the dynamically developing sectors of the economy and as an engine for the rest structural components of the national economies. The activities of the international organizations such as the UN, UNESCO, ITU shows a direct link between the development of the information sector in society and the effectiveness in the economy. In this connection, the event, associated with the study of current trends in the development of national information sphere in the framework of the adopted forecast of macroeconomic indicators and parameters of the National Budget of Uzbekistan for 2017 is considered as very important.
The State Budget of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the budgets of state trust funds, as well as approved main directions of tax and budget policy for 2017 serve as a legal basis, as they define the indicators of development of the national information sphere in short and medium term.
The participants noted that the development of telecommunications, wireless and mobile networks is making a significant contribution to the development of our national economy and enhancing its competitiveness.
Media is one of the most important subjects of the information sphere and civil society. Media activities always enjoy support from the government. The extension of the privileges for another two years, in accordance with legal acts, will contribute to further strengthening the material-technical base of the national media, improving the mechanisms of material stimulation of journalists’ work, raise the competitiveness of national mass media.
According to discussions, the participants expressed confidence that the actions undertaken will ensure the dynamic development of the information sector in the short and medium term, strengthen its role in the structure of the national economy.
