As we reported earlier, a temporary ban has been put on commercial fishing in the rivers Amudarya and Syrdarya, in accordance with the Rules of fisheries in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the basis of the Order of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for nature protection, which runs from 1 March to 1 June.
Unfortunately, some people deliberately go on the offense and have ignored this ban, making a great harm to the sustainable reproduction of fish populations in the country.
The new ban is foremost aimed at preserving fish stocks during the spawning season when the fish is preparing to breed.
A joint raid by the inspectors of the State Committee on Biocontrol and the security service of JSC Balikchi has found a fact of illegal fishing on the Syrdarya river.
The poachers used one of the most hazardous fishing gear — electrorod, the use of which is strictly forbidden by the environmental legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to inspectors, the preliminary sum of damage caused to the state from the actions of poachers amounted to 42 million soums.
More than 90 kilograms of fish was confiscated due to efforts of inspectors.
