Commemorating our ancestors’ memory and celebrating our history, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Resolution ‘On Preparing and Carrying Out Remembrance Day Events’ setting out an agenda for 9 May.
The spirit of the celebrations is carried by the words ‘Qahramonlik, burch va fidoylik’ and ‘Ajdodalrni xotirlash – muqaddas qadriyat.’
The resolution provides that:
- Officials be assigned for WWII and labour front veterans, servicemen who died in active duty, and their families, to take part in celebrations;
- single and low-income veterans’ houses be repaired; veterans without property be given housing;
- events be carried out on Remembrance Day to raise public awareness about veterans and servicemen who died in active duty; and
- WWII veterans be given one-off rewards on behalf of Uzbekistan’s President.
Under the resolution, Uzbekistan’s defence ministry will set off fireworks at 9 p.m. on 9 May in Tashkent.
