Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov is not only a leading institution of higher education, which prepares personnel on technical areas, but also a major research center in the integration of education, science and production.
Currently, the university has 5 faculties, 54 departments, with a total of 10298 undergraduate students and 528 postgraduate students.
Masters and gifted students studying at the university are engaged in research works under the guidance of the faculty. More than 800 talented students and undergraduates perform research under state scientific-technical programs, including fundamental, applied, innovation, and economic contracts with industrial enterprises.
The university has 39 academic circles, as well as "School for young inventors", where gifted students do research projects aimed at solving the problems of industries and production development.
The gifted students actively participate in scientific contests and take prize-winning places. In particular, in the 2016-2017 academic year, university students actively participated in 22 competitions and won 8 prizes.
In order to assess the intellectual potential of gifted youth, to analyse the proposals of young researchers and results of scientific researches, implementation of results of technical projects and innovative developments in production, to create conditions for the formation of younger generation as independent, creative, highly qualified researchers, the education of harmoniously developed generation, the Ministry of higher and secondary special education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Agency on intellectual property of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Technical University are holding a "Week of science for gifted youth". It starts today and ends on 20 April 2017.
At the conference it is planned to hold plenary and breakout sessions in the following areas:
• Engineering systems and physics;
• Mechanics and machine building technology;
• Energy-saving technologies and renewable energy sources;
• Engineering geology and mining;
• Oil and gas, chemical technology and industrial ecology;
• Economics, management and marketing;
• Fundamental science.
