Uzbekistan State Tourism Development Committee held on January 5 a meeting with French Ambassador Violaine Billette de Villemeur.
The French representatives were told about tourism perspectives, cultural potential, and respective governmental reforms in Uzbekistan.
The head of the tourism committee said Uzbek-French relationships in various fields were strong.
The committee said Uzbekistan had the conditions necessary for foreign investment. It also proposed to further tourism cooperation, particularly in constructing and upgrading tourism infrastructure.
Aiming to promote bilateral tourism relations, the Uzbek side invited French tourism industry representatives for the International Uzbek Tourism Fair, due to take place in April 2017. The Uzbek side also suggested organising B2B meetings with potential Uzbek partners and a tour around Uzbekistan.
Mrs Violaine de Villemeur, in turn, appraised Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and the government’s attention to tourism development. She also noted that making tourism a strategic economic branch was important.
Mrs Violaine de Villemeur said a French tourism specialist was to visit Chimgan-Charvak recreation area to study ecotourism perspectives, aiming to develop tourism projects financed by foreign investment.
The parties discussed various projects, including exhibitions of Uzbek travelling museums in France and broadcasts of French-specific programmes on Uzbek TV.
The parties agreed on developing propositions to strengthen tourism partnership.
