On 16 February Tashkent hosted the first Forum organized by the Ministry of Labour of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) under the project "Establishment of vocational training center in Shahrisabz city and consulting on capacity building of vocational training centres in Uzbekistan".
Labour Minister A. Abduxakimov, head of the KOICA Office in Uzbekistan Im Jeong Hee, official representatives of ministries and agencies involved in the implementation of the project, as well as experts from the Republic of Korea attended the Forum.
Labour Minister A. Abduxakimov having greeted the participants of the Forum, he highly appreciated the positive results of mutually beneficial strategic cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
He said the issues of employment of the population, especially the youth, has been designated as one of the priorities of the recently adopted special presidential decree "Action Strategy on further development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021".
In order to organise training and retraining of the unemployed population, including graduates of educational establishments, the Labour Ministry and KOICA are successfully implementing the project "Development of training opportunities in Uzbekistan". The vocational training center in Shakhrisabz is being established under this project.
Some three thousand of the unemployed population held vocational training at similar centers, which are effectively operating in the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand, and as a result, they found their jobs.
The centers provide training and retraining of specialists demanded in the labor market under four main areas: diagnostics, repair and maintenance of automobiles; technology engineering production and welding; electronics and electrotechnics; information systems and technology.
A close cooperation between KOICA and the Labour Ministry is not limited with this. It is planned to establish similar centers in the cities of Urgench and Kokand.
